Garden-Webb Concert
On Sunday, March 8th, First Baptist hosted the Gardner-Webb University Concert Choir for an evening concert in our sanctuary. The word “outstanding” does not begin to describe this event. It was simply magnificent! They performed works from Handel, Haydn, and Mendelssohn, as well as more contemporary composers such as John Rutter. In addition, they included some really rousing pieces such as “Handful of Keys” which called for two pianists on one keyboard – a big hit! After the concert, the chancel choir provided a meal, and then they spent the night with host families who had to get them back to church early Monday so that their charter bus could carry them away to their next concert. Many thanks to this wonderful choir and their director, Dr. Paul Etter. Thank you to all who provided food, housing, financial support for this event. This simply could not have happened without your support.

Valentine's Banquet 2009
Our 2009 Valentine's Banquet was a hit. This event was held in the church social hall. There they created an atmosphere of romance in every detail, from candlelit dinner to the rose pedals spread through out on the floor. The Youth group did a wonderful job of hosting the Valentine’s Banquet! Not only did they serve us, they also provided an excellent child care service. Our two chefs James and Robin Knight did a superb job. The food was absolutely delicious. We were entertained by hilarious games and background music. A congratulation goes to Mason and Kim Smith for winning The Newlywed and Not so Newlywed Game and Wink & Barbara Munden for winning the Poetry Reading Contest. Steve Goatley is doing a wonderful job with the youth of our church. I would like to THANK all the youth , the leaders and volunteers who helped make this event possible and for all your hard work.
